Judith bats for OIC branch in Oro
In his special report on Monday’s regular session presided over by Vice Mayor Jocelyn B. Rodriguez, Councilor James K. Judith II proposed the opening of a branch of the Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) in the city.
As an offshoot to the special report of Councilor Ian Mark Q. Nacaya last March 13, 2023 regarding the false advertisements of insurance companies, Judith said the primary purpose of his proposal is to cater the various complaints and other related concerns pertaining to insurance claims of the residents of the city.
Based on his observation as a private legal practitioner for 20 years, the most common problem of his clients in the city is where to directly file their complaints, grievances and other insurance-related issues and concerns. He also said that because of this, most of the insurance cases handled by his legal office were not given proper resolutions until this day and only a few were resolved through personal follow up in Manila where the OIC is based.
“Lisod mag follow-up kay dili man ta taga Manila unya mas gasto sa atong mga kliyente,” Judith lamented. With this, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 14508-2023, earnestly requesting the Office of the Insurance Commission (OIC) to establish a branch office in Cagayan de Oro City.
“Kay naa naman tay division sa Court of Appeals (CA), naa pud ang sa National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) ug uban pang buhatan sa atong gobyerno…so panahon na sad siguro (naa pud) ang (para sa) insurance na tipik na sa atong moderno na panginabuhi,” Judith further manifested.
