JRBGH lacks health Personnel -Gaane
This was manifested by Councilor Maria Lourdes S. Gaane on Monday during the regular session of the 20th City Council presided over by Vice Mayor Jocelyn B. Rodriguez, in response to the special report of Councilor James K. Judith II about the alleged inefficiency of health services at the city-owned JR Borja General Hospital (JRBGH).
Councilor Gaane, chair of the City Council committee on health, nutrition, and health insurance, said the chief nurse of the JRBGH already retired from the service recently but there is an assigned as officer-in-charge.
According to Councilor Gaane, the JRBGH is applying for accreditation as Level 2 hospital last October 2022. However, the Department of Health (DOH) deferred the application for accreditation because it should be done during the first quarter of the year.
Gaane said the JRBGH has no Intensive Care Unit (ICU), only Critical Care Unit for a Level 1 hospital.
She admitted that the JRBGH has insufficient medical personnel, equipment, and also facilities such as ICU. OVERCAPACITY
Councilor Gaane said surge in admission is the main reason why the city-hospital is crowded of patients.
Most of the patients seeking admission came from different areas in Mindanao such as Lanao, Misamis Oriental and some from Bukidnon, she said.
