Health committee endorses internship training of Liceo Nursing students
The internship training of students in Bachelor of Science in Nursing of Liceo de Cagayan University at the City Health Office is in the offing.
This, after the City Council Committee on Health, Nutrition, and Health Insurance chaired by Councilor Dr. Maria Lourdes S. Gaane favorably endorsed the signing of the Contract of Affiliation for the purpose.
According to the CHO, nursing students from different schools had already undergone training with the CHO even during the pandemic and are currently practicing at the City’s respective barangay health centers. Gaane expressed gratitude to the academe for rendering health services to augment the manpower needs of the city government.
For his part, Councilor Aga Suan, a nurse by profession, stressed the importance of affiliation to the growth of nursing students as they may be deployed to public or private hospitals in the future.
“It’s really a big help not just to nursing students but also to schools to protect their 100-percent passing rate. It is already a reputation of the city that they produce good and better nurses in the Philippines,” he said.
With this, the committee recommended the approval of the matter to the Committee on Laws and Rules chaired by Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas for appropriate action.
