Health comm to review Brgy 7 BNS service contract

THE City Council Committee on Health, Nutrition, and Health Insurance, chaired by Councilor Maria Lourdes S. Gaane, will convene today to deliberate on City Mayor Rolando A. Uy's request for authorization to engage in and sign a contract of service with a Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) from Barangay 7 as a prerequisite for the scholar to obtain civil service eligibility.


This initiative aligns with the city government's commitment to fortify the implementation of the nutrition program at the grassroots level by enlisting the services of a qualified nutrition scholar.

To qualify as a barangay nutrition scholar, an applicant must be a bona fide resident of the barangay for a minimum of four years, proficient in the local dialect, possesses at least a high school diploma, and demonstrates computer literacy. Moreover, the applicant should exhibit leadership potential and a voluntary commitment to serving the barangay, among other specified qualifications.


The recruitment of a barangay scholar is on a per barangay basis, with a minimum population requirement of 2,000 residents. The selection process involves choosing a candidate from within the barangay and assessing their mental ability and work attitude.
