Health cmte to study draft of early pregnancy prevention law
DISCUSSIONS on the proposed ordinance preventing early pregnancy and institutionalizing social protection parenthood responsibility for child and early pregnancy will take place tomorrow, Friday, March 17, 2023 at 9:00 A.M. at the City Council Session Hall. The ordinance was filed by City Vice Mayor Jocelyn B. Rodriguez as she is alarmed over survey results that Northern Mindanao is second in the entire country in terms of the percentage of young women aged 15 to 19 who have begun childbearing.
The City Council committee on health, nutrition, and health insurance chaired by Councilor Maria Lourdes S. Gaane has invited Vice Mayor Rodriguez, Association of Barangay Councils president Councilor Yan Lam Lim, SK President Councilor John Michael Seno, City Administrator Atty. Roy Raagas, Atty. Kenneth Tamala of City Legal Office, Dr. Michael June Perez of JRBGH, and Dr. Rachel Dilla of City Health Office to attend the meeting.
Also invited are Engr. Jane Docallos of City Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), City Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Cherry Mae Limbaco-Reyes, and other representatives of the school-academe.
