Goking sees faster economic recovery with city’s Alert Level 2 status

COUNCILOR George S. Goking, chair of the City Council committee on trade and commerce, is expecting the fast recovery of businesses in the city.

This, after the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) placed Cagayan de Oro and Misamis Oriental under Alert Level 2 from February 16-28, 2022.

Under Alert Level 2, business establishments are allowed to operate with 100-percent capacity except for indoor dine-in which has a 50-percent allowed capacity only, Goking said.

It was learned that there is a 20 percent additional capacity if the establishment is in an area with high vaccination rate, and another 10-percent allowed capacity for business with a safety seal.

Goking said that those who have closed their businesses can now consider re-opening their businesses.

This will create more jobs, he added.

The councilor said government agencies like the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Department of Agriculture (DA) are accommodating and giving loans to small businessmen so they can open or reopen their businesses.
