Goking graces MinTex Expo

Councilor George S. Goking, chair of the City Council committee on trade and commerce, attended the Mindanao Telecom Expo (MinTex) held at Luxe Hotel last January 13, 2023.

The councilor, who represented City Mayor Rolando A. Uy, said the MinTex aims to discuss among internet providers how they can serve the telecommunication needs of people in “blind” areas that cannot be served yet by big companies.

Around five providers expressed intention to interconnect their system so as to serve the people and help the business sector. Goking said a law enacted in 1991 mandates the government to support, strengthen and promote development of SMEs by providing a conducive business environment for them, providing easier access to finance, creating linkages between SMEs and larger organizations.

The law is a big help to SMES not only in the city but also in Mindanao, he said.
