Goking cites importance of labor force
COUNCILOR George S. Goking, chair of the City Council committee on trade and commerce, joins the local Labor Day celebration, even as he reminded the public of the importance of the labor force.
“The unity of the business sector and the labor force has a big contribution to economic recovery. The laborers are the No. 1 taxpayers and without them, it is a big problem for the business sector”, said Goking. He said that Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) now provides more jobs, adding that even the city’s Public Employment Services Office (PESO) is also helping those who are looking for jobs locally and abroad.
The current economic condition is causing problems in the business sector but Goking believes that through coordination and collaboration of businessmen and the local government, more job opportunities could be created, adding that business establishments that had closed during the time of the pandemic are slowly resuming their operations. The city government, he said, is also studying on supporting the business and the labor sector without violating existing policies and guidelines.
