Goking bucks selling, raising tax for City Hall transfer
Councilor George S. Goking, chair of the City Council committee on ways and means, expressed support to the proposal of Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas to transfer the City Hall to a more spacious location that would become a government hub.
He, however, opposes selling the present City Hall or raising taxes, saying the city can avail of other resources or modes to fund its construction.
The committees on subdivision and landed estate, ways and means, on public works and on tourism respectively chaired by Councilors Edgar S. Cabanlas, Goking, John Michael L. Seno and Jay R. Pascual is set to have a joint meeting today, January 19, 2023 at 3:30 PM at the City Council Session Hall to preliminary discuss the proposal.
Goking said the City can partner with funding agencies, saying it has excellent credit lines per Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) rating.
