Goking bats for stable supply of poultry meat products

Councilor George S. Goking last week reviewed Executive Order No. 094 declaring a temporary ban of the entry into the city of all species of poultry, poultry products and by-products coming from Luzon and other areas with confirmed cases of Avian Influenza (Bird Flu). The Misamis Oriental Retailers Association (MISORRA) reported that after the last meeting conducted by the committee, they met with city veterinarian Dr. Perla Asis to express their sentiments on rules and policies of the City Veterinary Office.

The local suppliers requested for updates on the areas affected by bird flu for them to prepare and ensure a stable supply of poultry meat products. Goking said an assembly of all suppliers of poultry products is being planned to address the problem.

The councilor said that based on the MISORRA’s explanation on the pros and cons of the executive order, there is a need to further review and study the said EO to properly address the scarce supply of poultry meat products.
