Goking attends strategic financial mgmt plan webinar

Cites importance of coordination, cooperation to survive financial difficulties

COUNCILOR George S. Goking chair the City Council committee on ways and means, attended the Webinar on Strategic Financial Management Plan Review, Update and Finalization.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) provided the technical assistance during the activity. It also highlighted the business planning for the city’s economic enterprises and the fundamentals of internal audit.

Councilor Goking said the meeting is important as it aims to target local government officials who are directly involved in managing the funds of the LGU. It provides a venue for designing a strategic direction and a more concrete roadmap for mobilizing the financial resources, he explained.

He cited that as the pandemic has affected LGU’s in various aspects of operations and service delivery, the need for more focused generation of revenues and management of expenditures becomes more apparent. This is very much needed for the city to be guided in the system and procedure in managing financial matters, he cited.

The councilor said coordination with the committee on finance, budget & appropriations chaired by councilor Edna M. Dahino is needed.

“As of today, the pandemic is growing fast and the economic recovery is most awaited. We need proper coordination with all concerned government agencies. The cooperation of the people plays a vital role to survive the financial difficulties,” Goking added.
