Gaane joins National Women’s Month celebration
TO recognize and highlight women’s key roles, Councilor Maria Lourdes S. Gaane, chair of the City Council committee on health and health insurance, has joined this year’s celebration of the National Women’s Month.
With the theme “Agenda ng Kababaihan, Tungo sa Kaunlaran”, Councilor Gaane said Women’s Month is an opportunity to celebrate and reflect on women’s achievements, the challenges they are facing, and the important role they continue to play in the society.
“It will be a celebration of women exercising their choices, taking chances to make their voices heard, and benefitting from and trailblazing changes.”
In her social media post, Councilor Gaane expressed her support to this event, saying that women are key factors in the success not only in their career but also in the protection of the environment.
“Akong ginapa-abot ang atong suporta aron mahatag ang tubag sa mulo ug ang damgo sa atong mga kababaihan,” she stressed.
As chair of the committee on cultural communities, Councilor Gaane also expressed her support and praised the Indigenous People (IPs) as she highlighted the role of women in maintaining their culture.
“Dako ang akong respeto ug pagdayeg sa atong mga kaigsuonan nga IP kay tungod nila nagpabiling buhi ang atong kultura ug nagpakita kini ug koneksyon sa atong kasaysayan ug sa karon nga panahon”, she said.
