Financial aid for Tanods allowed by law- Calizo

Councilor Romeo V. Calizo, chair of the City Council committee on public order and safety, expressed his support to the proposal to increase of honorarium of Barangay Tanods.

This, as Councilor Yan Lam S. Lim, chair of the committees on barangay affairs and on finance, budget and appropriations, in his special report during the regular session yesterday presided over by Vice Mayor Jocelyn B. Rodriguez, recommended to increase the Barangay Tanod’s honorarium from 500.00 to 1,000.00 per month.

Stressing that his committee has nothing to discuss about the subject particularly its funding, the councilor suggested the same must, instead, be tackled by the committee on finance.

Calizo further manifested the necessity to increase the number of tanods to be given honorarium from the “20 per barangay quota” in view of the increasing population of the barangays in the City.

With this, Calizo recommended that the matter be jointly discussed by both committees on public order and safety and on finance, budget and appropriations
