Energy cmte tackles Balubal electrification, CEPALCO bill adjustment

THE 20th City Council's Committee on Energy, chaired by Councilor Aga Suan, during its meeting on September 26, 2024 urged the Cagayan Electric Power and Light Company, Inc. (CEPALCO) to intensify its information dissemination about its collection or refund of meter deposit adjustments.

It may be recalled that Councilor Malvern A. Esparcia raised during the 94th Regular Session on September 9 CEPALCO's meter deposit balance charges that confused electric consumers in the city.

To address public concerns, the committee asked CEPALCO to repost on social media its frequently asked questions (FAQs) on the matter to ensure clear communication with affected consumers.

A representative from CEPALCO's Legal Services Department clarified that the adjustment has legal basis, and the company already issued notices via radio and social media since last year, though the adjustments were only implemented in August this year.

In other news, the Energy Committee favorably endorsed the request of City Mayor Rolando A. Uy for authority to enter into a contract for line extension with CEPALCO for the electrification of the city’s relocation site at Balubal Subdivision, Relocation Phase 2.
