Dads OK Oro’s PFDMP

THE 19th City Council during its regular session Monday presided over by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy adopted a resolution approving and/or adopting the Provincial Foreshore Development and Management Plan (PFDMP) of the City of Cagayan de Oro for 2018-2023.

This is in compliance with the requirements set by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Office Region 10 (DENR-10) to complete the process of the plan’s development and approval.

Foreshore Lands refer to the part of the shore which is alternately covered and uncovered by the ebb and flow of the tide.

The PFDMP general management plan will serve as a guide in formulating individual plans for each stakeholder within the coastal zone. The management planning strategy shall promote the adoption and implementation of innovative management techniques for development, management protection, The Gavel further learned.

In his letter to the City Council, City Mayor Oscar S. Moreno said the plan is a province-wide approach in order to have a connected conservation network that offers practical and tangible solutions to the current and future issues.

For the responsible management, development and proper utilization of the city’s environment and natural resources, it is imperative to promote the sustainable use of coastal shoreline and foreshore areas in the city through effective and efficient management, added the city mayor.

The legislation was reviewed and endorsed by the committees on planning, innovation and development and on laws and rules, both chaired by Councilor Ian Mark Q. Nacaya.
