Dads authorize Mayor Uy to request election ban exemption on social welfare, housing projects
The 20th City Council, in its regular session presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, passed a resolution granting Mayor Rolando A. Uy the authority to file a request for exemption on social welfare and housing-related projects of the city government.
This is pursuant to Commission on Election (COMELEC) Resolution No. 11060, which outlines the rules governing the restriction of utilizing public funds for social services and housing projects in connection with the May 12, 2025 national and local elections, and the BARMM Parliamentary elections, The Gavel learned.
The ban, which will take effect on March 28 until May 11 next year, is seen to affect the programs, basic services, as well as the regular assistance provided by the city government.
With this, Mayor Uy cited the urgency of filing an exemption request with COMELEC to ensure that ongoing and future projects in these areas remain unaffected during the election period.
The executive department is already in the process of compiling a list of all relevant programs and projects that may require exemption.
The deadline for the submission of the exemption request is set for February 11, 2025.
