Dads ask CIDS-USTP to conduct studies on housing challenges, suicide cases in city
IN order to address the housing challenges and suicide cases in the city, the 19th City Council headed by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy adopted separate resolutions requesting the Center for Inclusive Development Studies (CIDS) of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) System thru its President, Dr. Ambrosio B. Cultura, to conduct research studies on these matters.
The CIDS-USTP will conduct research studies on Housing Challenges and Opportunities in Cagayan de Oro: A Preliminary Study, and Profiling Suicide Cases in the city: Basis for Designing Community-based Intervention.
Councilor Ian Mark Q. Nacaya, one of the proponents of the resolutions and chair of the City Council committee on laws and rules, said he aims to create laws that are responsive to housing concerns and provide solutions for suicide cases in the city.
“This is our job as legislators,” he posted on his social media as he expressed his gratitude to USTP President Dr. Cultura and to CIDS head Dr. Francis Cimene, for the research.
The Gavel learned that the CIDS is committed to provide development planners, implementers, and policy makers significant research-based recommendations for inclusive development. It primarily focuses on the development of the marginal sector of society.
The resolutions were sponsored by Councilors Nacaya, Edgar S. Cabanlas, and Joyleen Mercedes L. Balaba.
