Coun. Gaane elated for new JRBGH Hemodialysis Unit
“This is what you get when the government works for the people.”
Thus, stressed Councilor Maria Lourdes S. Gaane, Chair of the City Council Committee on Health, Nutrition, and Health Insurance, following the opening of the Hemodialysis Unit at the city-owned J.R. Borja General Hospital (JRBGH), which City Mayor Rolando A. Uy launched last, June 1, 2023.
The Hemodialysis Center can now cater to patients with kidney failure after the Department of Health (DOH) granted the JRBGH a License to Operate (LTO).
Councilor Gaane expressed gladness over the new facility, as it will provide vital treatment to patients suffering from renal disease. Kidney disease, especially End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), is one of the leading causes of death among Filipinos, and more than 5,000 patients are presently undergoing dialysis, The Gavel learned.
It may be recalled that the 19th City Council, headed by former City Vice Mayor Joaquin V. Uy, adopted a resolution authorizing the JRBGH, a Level 1 health facility, to construct Hemodialysis Unit with 43 chairs and one Peritoneal Dialysis Unit.
Councilor Gaane thanked City Mayor Rolando A. Uy for his unwavering support to the programs and projects of the JRBGH in addressing the healthcare needs of residents of the city. She also acknowledged the efforts of the dedicated staff of the city hospital in providing health services, especially for those who have kidney problems.
