City to tap technical expertise of PPP Center for dev’t projects

CITY Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy referred to the committee on planning, innovation and development chaired by Councilor Ian Mark Q. Nacaya for appropriate action the proposed ordinance authorizing Mayor Oscar S. Moreno to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the city government and the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center.

The MOA covers the partnership of the parties in the implementation of some of the city’s development projects.

The MOA aims to provide a framework for cooperation and coordination between the parties with the goal of developing a robust pipeline of PPP projects for the city, The Gavel learned.

In his letter to the City Council, City Mayor Oscar S. Moreno said the undertaking is another testament of the ability of the local government to engage in crucial and productive collaboration with the national government thru the PPP Center by availing of the latter’s technical expertise. This will help ensure the viability of the city’s development projects and pursue innovative strategies intended to optimize its limited resources by entering into partnerships or joint-venture with the private sector, he cited.

Both parties commit to exert active participation through duly-authorized and qualified personnel and representatives in discussion to be organized in connection with the implementation of the MOA as well as in the preparation of a work plan if deemed necessary.

They shall also facilitate and coordinate within their respective offices to implement and carry out the objectives of the MOA and other specific obligations that may be assumed by each party in the course of the collaboration.
