City to ink pact with higher education institutions for student training at JRBGH

THE 20th City Council, during its regular session on Monday, presided over by Vice Mayor Jocelyn "Bebot" Rodriguez, has authorized City Mayor Rolando A. Uy to formalize a contract of affiliation with various higher educational institutions to facilitate the assignment, training, and rotation of students at the JR Borja General Hospital (JRBGH), providing valuable clinical experience as part of their academic programs.

Cagayan de Oro City Councilor Maria Lourdes S. Gaane

The contract allows students from bachelor's degree programs and TESDA vocational courses to engage in hands-on training at JRBGH. The hospital will also ensure trainees' participation in clinical conferences and symposiums while adhering to policies for supervision, admission, and training standards.

In return, partner schools must provide a certified list of interns, take responsibility for student welfare during training, and compensate JRBGH for any damages caused by interns' negligence. The agreement will initially last for two years, with the option for renewal.

The ordinance was endorsed by the Committees on Health and Health Insurance and on Laws and Rules, chaired by Councilors Maria Lourdes S. Gaane and Edgar S. Cabanlas, respectively.
