City to ink pact with Ayala Foundation, OIC for P4P Project

THE city government of Cagayan de Oro will collaborate with the Ayala Foundation Inc. (AFI) and the Oro Integrated Cooperative (OIC) for the implementation of the Planting for Productivity (P4P) Project in the city.

This, after the 19th City Council during its regular session presided over by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy authorized City Mayor Oscar Moreno to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the parties for the purpose.

In his letter to the legislative body, Mayor Moreno said that the project is empowering to the marginalized sectors since it will equip the intended beneficiaries with the ability to raise crops in their own household.

He said it will contribute to food production and at the same time earn income, which enhances the city’s poverty alleviation program.

Under the MOA, AFI shall identify, mobilize and engage stakeholders/partners that can contribute to the successful delivery of the project components as can be seen in the project concept; source private funding and act as the lead implementer and fund manager of the project, ensuring that the project costs are kept within budget, among others.

On the other hand, the OIC, together with the City Agriculture Office (CAO), City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD), City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO), and City Improvement Division (CID) shall conduct financial literacy training for the P4P participants.

Concerned departments shall conduct an orientation and register the beneficiaries as OIC members with the seed capital provided by AFI; ensure the proper collection, recording, processing, and protection of the individual accounts and personal information of member-beneficiaries, among others.

For its part, the city shall organize a technical working group comprised of relevant agencies to implement the project with AFI, including but not limited to the CAO, CSWD, City Nutrition Office (CNO), CLENRO, and CID.
