City to collaborate with World Vision for Project ACE


THE city government of Cagayan de Oro and World Vision Development Foundation will be collaborating to promote the Protect Against Child Exploitation (Project ACE).

It was learned that World Vision has selected Cagayan de Oro as one of its impact areas for Project ACE with activities to be implemented in Barangays Cugman, Puntod and Gusa as pilot areas.

Supporting this, the 19 th City Council headed by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy on Monday, June 21, enacted an ordinance authorizing Mayor Oscar S. Moreno to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the World Vision Development Foundation, Incorporated.

Mayor Moreno informed the legislative body that the collaboration intends to ensure the enactment of ordinances, policies, programs and services for the elimination of worst forms of child labor (WFCL) and online sexual exploitation of children (OSEC) and violations of acceptable conditions of work in the local government unit.

It also aims to ensure the active participation of local officials, LGU partners and other stakeholders in the conduct of knowledge, attitude and practice study.

The city and World Division shall also endeavor to further promote the initiatives of the City Council for the Protection of Children (CCPC) in addressing all forms of child exploitation, child labor and online exploitation.

The ordinance was endorsed by the committees on social services and on laws and rules chaired by Councilors Joyleen Mercedes Balaba and Ian Mark Nacaya, respectively.
