THE City Government of Cagayan de Oro, through the J.R. Borja General Hospital (JRBGH), can now ensure a steady and safe blood supply while raising awareness on the importance of voluntary blood donation.
This, after the 20th City Council during its regular session on Monday, presided over by Presiding Officer Pro Tempore Councilor Romeo Calizo approved an ordinance authorizing City Mayor Rolando A. Uy to sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Philippine Red Cross.

The MOA formalizes the collaboration between JRBGH and the Philippine Red Cross in promoting and recruiting voluntary blood donors.
As a designated Blood Station Unit, JRBGH will spearhead blood donation drives, refer volunteer donors, and ensure the rational use of blood through regular audits.
Under the agreement, the city will coordinate weekly blood supply requests, facilitate proper transport and storage of blood products, and encourage community participation in blood donation.
In turn, the Philippine Red Cross will provide weekly blood supplies, respond to emergency demands, and issue monthly statements of account to JRBGH.
The legislation was certified as urgent by Mayor Uy and unanimously approved by the members of the City Council. (JAOclarit/SP/Photo by Red Cross CDO FB page)
