City plans to put up demo farm, research center
The City Council committee on subdivision and landed estate chaired by Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas will conduct an ocular inspection of a private lot in Barangay Baikingon which the City plans to acquire for use as integrated demonstration farm and research center for farmers and fisher folks. The lot has an area of 51,165 square meters located at Zone 4, Baikingon.
In his letter to Mayor Rolando A. Uy, City Agriculturist Paterno L. Gonzales, Jr. said the planned research center of the City Agriculture Office has been delayed due to the establishment of the Center for Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Disease (CEREID) facility of the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) located in Barangay San Simon.
In response to the query of Councilor Jose Pepe Abbu Jr., the lot owner said that based on the Cadastral Survey, the property is under the boundary of Barangay Iponan before the barangay was created. He informed the committee that the said area is surrounded by some existing developments and improvements. Even the adjacent lot property is being sold for 1,000 per square meter which is higher than his property, he said. He added the area is complete with an electric facility and adjacent to a water source.
