City, Oro Chamber forge pact to capacitate MSMEs
BOTH the city government and the Oro Chamber agreed to boost Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMESs) in Cagayan de Oro City.
This after, the City Council headed by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy enacted Ordinance No. 14180-2021, authorizing Mayor Oscar S. Moreno to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Oro Chamber covering the collaboration of the parties in the mentoring, coaching and capacitating of MSMEs.
Under the MOU, the city shall provide the updated courses offerings, list of mentors and target, and promotional collaterals of the Small Business Information Resource (SPIR) to the Oro Chamber.
It shall help the capacity of startup companies to prepare them for the Oro Chamber’s Acceleration Program, and the OROBEST Innovation Program.
For its part, the Oro Chamber shall act as a conduit or a bridge to mentorship, training, and a link to investment opportunities for MSMEs through collaborative tie-ups; allow a portion of their webpage to describe the programs of the city; assist or facilitate guest speakers or resource persons from its member companies or collaborating partners; and support the information drive and other programs for MSMEs in the city.
In his endorsement, Mayor Moreno said the MOU is an important partnership with the private sector in providing the local business sector with relevant training and crucial linkage to improve its capability in meeting the challenges of the market amidst the global pandemic.
