City Council to review ordinance establishing CDO startup support center
THE City Council trade and commerce committee, chaired by Councilor George S. Goking, will evaluate the proposed ordinance, creating a Startup Support Center and Innovation Hub to enhance Cagayan de Oro’s startup ecosystem.

Authored by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, the draft CDO Startup Ecosystem Initiatives ordinance aims to support startups in the city, including Filipino and foreign entrepreneurs, as well as registered business entities such as sole proprietorships, corporations, partnerships, joint ventures, cooperatives, and associations.
The ordinance defines a Cagayan de Oro Startup, particularly in digital technology, as a dynamic business entity leveraging innovative solutions in ICT, digital products, and services with high scalability potential. These startups act as disruptors, reshaping traditional business models and contributing to economic growth through globally scalable innovations.
The CDO StartSCIHub (Cagayan de Oro Startup Support Center and Innovation Hub) will serve as a collaborative platform, bringing together entrepreneurs, educational institutions, government agencies, venture capitalists, and other key stakeholders.
Its goal is to develop and implement programs that foster innovation, support entrepreneurial ventures, encourage cross-industry collaborations, and enhance the city’s appeal to knowledge workers and innovative companies. (JAOclarit/SP)
