City Council oks SK budgets of 3 brgys

During its regular session on Monday, the 20th City Council, presided by Majority Floor Leader Atty. Edgar Cabanlas, approved the 2024 annual budgets for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Barangays Tablon, Balulang, and Patag.

The budgets, amounting to ₱4,055,844.00 for Brgy. Tablon, ₱4,881,588.00 for Brgy. Balulang, and ₱2,117,740.00 for Brgy. Patag, were sourced from each barangay's 10% development fund in accordance with Republic Act No. 10742, also known as the SK Reform Act.

These funds will cover personal services for SK council members and maintenance and operating expenses, including office supplies and training. Additionally, the budgets will support various programs and projects focused on youth development, covering areas such as health, education, economic empowerment, social inclusion and equity, peacebuilding and security, governance, active citizenship, and agriculture.

The legislations  were reviewed and endorsed by the Committee on Sports and Youth Development, chaired by Councilor Kenneth John D. Sacala, and Committee on Laws and Rules, chaired by Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas.
