City Council oks data sharing pact with BLGF, BIR, LRA

THE 20th City Council, in its regular session on Monday, enacted an ordinance authorizing the City Mayor Rolando A. Uy to enter into and sign the data sharing agreement with the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Land Registration Authority (LRA), and the partner-local government units for the implementation of the Local Governance Reform Project (LRGRP).

In his letter to the City Council, Mayor Uy highlighted that the agreement stemmed from the LRGRP MOA signing event in May 2023 between the Department of Finance, BLGF, and selected LGUs, with the city government represented.

The initiative aligns with the City Government’s RISE agenda, particularly under the components of Regional Leadership: Metropolization, Accessibility, and Connectivity and Institutional Development and Participatory Governance. Mayor Uy emphasized that the agenda prioritizes Technology and Innovation as well as Data-Driven Management and the Upgrade of Public Services.

The MOA commits the parties to share real property-related information, including personal and sensitive data, in line with their respective mandates and in compliance with data privacy laws, among other considerations.
