City Council nods budget for Brgy 5 youth programs, initiatives



The Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Brgy. 5 is gearing up to implement its initiatives for the year, following the approval of its annual budget by the 20th City Council during its 107th regular session.


The resolution endorses an estimated income of ₱344,174.00, derived from the barangay’s 10% development fund as stipulated by Republic Act 10742, also known as the Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act of 2015.


Of the total amount, ₱185,000.00 has been earmarked for various youth development and empowerment programs. These include ₱100,000.00 for active citizenship, ₱30,000.00 for education, ₱15,000.00 for health, ₱15,000.00 for the environment, ₱10,000.00 for peace-building and security, ₱10,000.00 for governance, and ₱5,000.00 for economic empowerment initiatives.


Additionally, ₱85,968.00 has been set aside for honoraria. Another ₱73,206.00 is allocated for maintenance and other operating expenses, which encompass costs for training, fidelity bonds, office supplies, and other necessary materials.


The legislation was reviewed and endorsed by the committee on sports and youth development, chaired by Councilor Kenneth John D. Sacala, and the committee on laws and rules, chaired by Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas.
