City council greenlights barangay 20 SK budget

The Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay 20 is set to implement its youth programs following the approval by the 20th City Council of a resolution covering their annual budget for CY 2024, with an estimated income of ₱315,439.00.

Of this total, ₱61,236.00 is allocated for honorarium, ensuring that the SK's operational staff are supported. Meanwhile, ₱89,963.00 will cover maintenance and other operating expenses (MOOE), which include funding for travel, training, office supplies, uniforms, fidelity bond premiums, and SK Federation annual dues.

A significant portion, ₱164,240.00, has been set aside for a diverse range of projects, programs, and activities focused on education, health, environment, governance, and fostering active citizenship among the youth.

This budget allocation is in full compliance with the Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act of 2015 (Republic Act No. 10742), which mandates that 10% of a barangay's annual general fund be designated for SK-led programs that promote leadership development and socio-cultural engagement among the youth.

The legislation was reviewed and endorsed by the Committee on Sports and Youth Development, chaired by Councilor Kenneth John D. Sacala, and the Committee on Laws and Rules, chaired by Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas.
