The City Nutrition Committee and the Office of the City Health Officer (CHO) were recognized with several distinguished awards, each underscoring their dedication to public health and nutrition in the community.

Leading these is the Nutrition Honor Award (NHA) 2023, the highest honor from the National Nutrition Council (NNC), awarded to local government units that excel in comprehensive nutrition program planning, management, and implementation.

This award highlights the city’s relentless dedication to nutrition program management, stakeholder mobilization, and collaborative efforts.

Additional regional accolades include plaques of recognition from the Regional Harmonized Awarding Ceremony, celebrating the city’s achievements in nutrition and the NNC’s endorsement of health-oriented initiatives across LGUs.

The Plaque of Appreciation from the NMMC Human Milk Bank and Lactation Unit also acknowledged CHO’s commitment to maternal and child health, recognizing its support for safe breastfeeding practices and human milk banking.

The CHO's contributions to family health were further acknowledged through a Recognition for Contributions to Family Health Programs, emphasizing their role in strengthening maternal and child nutrition, a key to sustainable community health.

Additionally, the 2023 Regional Outstanding Local Nutrition Focal Point award honored CHO’s leadership in fostering community-based health programs that inspire residents to adopt nutrition-focused lifestyles, The Gavel learned.

Rounding out these accomplishments, the committee was named a finalist in the Regional Search for Best Garden of Go, Grow, and Glow (G4), an award celebrating exceptional efforts in promoting food gardening to support community nutrition and health.

The legislation was sponsored by Councilor Maria Lourdes S. Gaane, chair of the City Council Committee on Health, Nutrition and Health Insurance, and approved by all members of the City Council.
