City Council backs MOA with LDCU
THE 20th City Council, in its regular session on Monday, presided over by Majority Floor Leader Edgar S. Cabanlas, enacted an ordinance authorizing City Mayor Rolando A. Uy to sign the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Liceo de Cagayan University (LDCU) and its Office of Extension and Service Learning (OESL), and LDCU- Information Technology.
The MOA covers the partnership of the university’s Social Action and Service-Learning Services, specifically the environment, socio-economic, education, legal services, gender development, and community health services extension program with the City Social Welfare and Development Department.
Under the agreement, LDCU, OESL, and its colleges will provide these services to city residents. The city will ensure the safety of LDCU volunteers, offer free venues and manpower for community activities, and support the program's functions.
Mayor Uy emphasized in his letter to the City Council that these services aim to develop a self-reliant Filipino community, aligning with the vision, mission, and goals of the said university.
The City Council Committees on Social Services and on Laws and Rules, chaired by Councilors Joyleen Mercedes L. Balaba and Edgar S. Cabanlas, sponsored the legislation.
