CDO, DSWD ink pact for 4Ps implementation
More Kagay-anons are set to receive more social pension programs from the government. This, as the 20th City Council on its Monday’s regular session presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, authorized Mayor Klarex Uy to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) covering the implementation of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
The program is set to address the needs of marginalized Kagay-anons, by empowering them “through direct participation in the affairs of the government, allowing them the widest possible space to decide on, initiate, implement, and innovate on development activities”.
Specific programs to be implemented under the MoA include the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), Livelihood Assistance Grants (LAG), Balik Probinsya Program (BPP), SLP Stage 5: Program Participants Mainstreaming, Zero Hunger–PCB projects, PAMANA, EO 70, Livelihood Assistance for Disaster Affected Households, and Livelihood Assistance Walk In and Referral Clients.
Under the Agreement, both the DSWD and LGU-Cagayan de Oro “agree to jointly execute all SLP projects in the identified areas and mutually carry the collaborative activities and commitments,” purposely for the success of the Program.
Councilor Girlie Balaba, chairman of the Committee on Social Services and one of the proponents of the Ordinance, is optimistic that the extensive execution of the Agreement will alleviate poverty and help Kagay-anons become more self-reliant in the future.
The ordinance authorizing Mayor Uy to enter into the said MOA was also backed by the Committee on Laws and Rules, chaired by Councilor Edgar Cabanlas.
