CDO athletes shine at Batang Pinoy 2024

During the recent 20th City Council session, Councilor Kenneth Sacala, president of the City SK Federation, delivered a special report on the city’s achievements in the 2024 Batang Pinoy held in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

As of November 26, he said Cagayan de Oro ranked 17th nationally, with standout performances in various events.

The city’s young chess prodigies bagged four gold medals, five silver medals, and three bronze medals, while athletics secured a silver medal in shot put.

The boxing team made significant strides, with seven boxers advancing to the quarterfinals and one clinching a spot in the semifinals. Meanwhile, the 3x3 basketball team is bound for the semi-quarterfinals.

Sacala is hopeful that the city will bag more medals as many events are still ongoing at the time of reporting.

He commended the determination of the city’s athletes, whose efforts continue to bring pride to Cagayan de Oro.
