Calizo backs call for warning signs on projects
Councilor Romeo V. Calizo, chair of the City Council committee on roads and traffic management, concurs to the Special Report of Councilor Malvern A. Esparcia on Monday’s regular session regarding the importance of warning signs in every construction site of all infrastructure projects of the city to ensure public safety.
Calizo said the city has fared low on the enforcement of road construction safety, citing it as one of the reasons the city did not get the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).
“While we fared well with other aspects of governance, (on) this (aspect) we failed practically. Why? It is because of the failure of the local government in supervising infrastructure projects and also on the part of the legislative,” the councilor pointed out.
Calizo added this should serve as a challenge for both the Executive and Legislative Branches in the exercise of their respective oversight functions. (JAOclarit/SP)
