Cabanlas: Special reports should be verified
“Special reports must be clarified (and) must be verified, [or else] these will become an accusation.”
Majority Floor Leader Councilor Edgar Cabanlas said this in reaction to the proposed resolution filed by Councilor James Judith, urging the Bureau of Fire Protection to expedite its procurement system for the repair of fire truck at the Macabalan Fire Station.
Cabanlas asked Judith if he conducted due diligence on his report by coordinating with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), since BFP is under its jurisdiction.
Judith explained that the information comes from high-ranking personnel from the BFP regional office, thus proving the veracity and legitimacy of his concern. His intention was to only bring the matter to his fellow legislators to ask what the local government can do.
Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, who presided over the 20th City Council’s regular session, advised Councilor Judith to coordinate first with the BFP and ask if the same problem persists in other fire sub-stations so that his report will be comprehensive.
