Business group urged to file position on tax relief program

Councilor George S. Goking, chair of the City Council committee on trade and commerce, advised the city’s business groups to submit a position paper regarding the city’s tax relief program.

This developed after the business community sought clarification on City Hall’s tax relief and tax discount program, even as it seeks possible extension until December 31, 2023.

During last week’s forum on the tax relief and incentive programs, Oro Chamber President Raymundo Talimio Jr. asked City Hall officials for the guidelines or the implementing rules and regulations of the tax relief ordinance.

He said they are waiting for the implementation stage, so as to disseminate the program to the grassroots level. This is especially important to those with delinquent arrears, he added.

For this, Councilor Goking urged the business community to file its position paper with both Mayor Rolando A. Uy and the 20th City Council for possible amendments of the tax relief program.

“You should outline your position in the resolution and the City Council will take it up for deliberation and possible amendments,” Goking said.
