THE 20th City Council, during its regular session on Monday, approved the ordinance from Barangay Bonbon, establishing its docking area at Nabuslutan Creek, Zone 4.

Introduced by Kagawad Jerome L. Sambaan, the barangay ordinance seeks to minimize damage to fishing boats and ensure the safety of fisherfolk, particularly during the rainy season when strong waves pose greater risks.

The docking area is designated exclusively for registered fisherfolk who own boats and hold the necessary permits. Only members of the local fisherfolk federation with verified boat ownership are allowed to utilize the facility.

Under the ordinance, dock owners are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of their assigned spaces. Construction of structures is prohibited, except for storage of fishing equipment.

Annual registration is also required for continued use of the docking slots.

The ordinance was sponsored by the City Council committees on barangay affairs and on laws and

rules, chaired respectively by Councilors Yan Lam S. Lim and Edgar S. Cabanlas. (JAOclarit/SP)
