Balaba cmte to review MOA for use of tennis court as massage area

THE City Council committee on social services chaired by Councilor Joyleen Mercedes L. Balaba will tackle the proposed ordinance granting authority to Mayor Oscar S. Moreno to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Sangguniang Barangay of Barangay 40 and the Cagayan de Oro Massage Therapist Association (Non-PWD).

The MOA covers the use by the members of the association of the city-owned tennis court in Barangay 40 as a massage venue.

Under the MOA, the city, thru the Community Improvement Division (CID), shall provide the association members with Massage Therapy Enhancement Training and relevant Capability Development Training.

It shall also provide and process, thru the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), Cash for Work of two watchmen to be provided by Barangay 40 who will look into the peace and order of the area.

Meanwhile, Barangay 40 shall assist in providing a space for the Massage Therapy Operation at the tennis court and ensure that it is available Monday to Sunday from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

It shall likewise provide two watchmen and safety officers during the massage therapy session, provide electricity, water and comfort room for the massage therapists and their clients, among others.

For its part, the association members shall attend all the activities and trainings provided by the CID, and comply with all requirements such as the Updated Massage Therapy National Certificate II, COVID-19 Vaccination Card, Health Card issued by the City Health Office, Massage Therapy Training Certificate, among others.

The members are also required to observe cleanliness in the whole area including the comfort rooms at all times, follow proper dress code, and ensure that no member is vending in their allotted space during business hours.
