Balaba calls for further review of COWD, COBI contract

“WE should require the contract between COWD and COBI pero wala pa ta kabalo unsa nay status ani. But if it is proven na disadvantageous to the city, we should call for its revocation, cancellation, or amendment.”

This was pointed out by Councilor Joyleen Mercedes L. Balaba during the regular session in reaction to the special report of Councilor Jose Pepe Abbu S. Abbu, Jr. relative to the existing problem of water supply in the city.

In case of amendment, Balaba further suggested that the contract should include a stipulation requiring the Cagayan de Oro City Water District (COWD) to submit its annual report on the status and updates of their maintenance works and other relevant data such as the number of households served, level of water supply, and the like.   

“Kinahanglan nato na para nay transparency and accountability pero wala na sa (daan na) kontrata ug wala man gani nakabutang maski kanus-a mahuman kaning ilang mga improvements aron masuplayan og tubig ang mga households satong dakbayan,” the lady councilor lamented.
