IT’s all system go for the implementation of Phase 2 of the Puerto Market modernization project.

Councilor Ian Mark Nacaya, chair of the City Council committee on economic enterprises, said construction work of the P100-Million project is now ongoing.

Based on published updates posted on the Puerto Puwersa Facebook page as of May 2, works included the fabrication of form and installation of scaffolding for pouring on the third-floor columns of the building.

It may be recalled that Councilor Nacaya, also the overseer of the City Economic Enterprises Department (CEED), lobbied for the needed funds for the realization of the project.

The state-of-the-art, three-story building will replace the old and dilapidated market. It will cater to market vendors, provide market-goers and tourists with a positive experience and serve as a catalyst for local businesses.

Councilor Nacaya has also been actively working for the development and improvement of other public markets in the city.
