Aggregate crushing plant project in Pagatpat given nod

The construction of an aggregate crushing plant project in Barangay Pagatpat may be realized soon after the 20th City Council, during its regular session Monday presided over by Vice Mayor, adopted a resolution interposing no objection to the request of MBN Trading Corporation for the purpose.

It may be recalled that the Committee on Subdivision and Landed Estate chaired by Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas already approved the said request after having learned that the proponent has secured from the City Local Environment and Natural Resources (CLENRO) the social acceptability certificate, a document needed to ensure that projects covered by the Environmental Impact System (EIS) are environmentally sound, culturally adoptable, and economically feasible.

It is also worth noting that the Environmental Management Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has granted the Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) after having satisfied the requirement of the Philippine EIS.

With the issuance of the ECC, the crushing plant project is expected to implement the measures presented in the Initial Environmental Examination Checklist (IEEC) during its construction and implementation phases to mitigate the project’s adverse impacts on community health, welfare, and environment.

In support of the National Greening Program, the proponent is also encouraged to plant at least 20 hills of giant bamboo and 20 other tree species in available spaces of the project site or in coordination with the concerned DENR Office for available planting area.
