Affected residents may request financial assistance - CSWD

With endorsement of barangay officials,

RESIDENTS who are greatly affected by the present Modified Enhance Community Quarantine (MECQ) status may request and receive financial assistance/aid from the city government as long as

they are duly endorsed by their respective barangay officials.

This was clarified during the tripartite meeting of the City Council committees on social services, on health and health insurance and on finance, budget and appropriations, respectively chaired by

Councilors Joyleen Mercedes L. Balaba, Maria Lourdes S. Gaane and Edna M. Dahino, relative to the special report of Councilor Lordan G. Suan for the city to provide financial assistance/aid to affected

residents while the city is under MECQ due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Michael Christopher Fabello, Executive Overseer of the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD), affected residents may visit the office and present a valid endorsement from

their barangay chairman attesting the veracity of their condition.

“If ever they come to CSWD, i-request daan, bring their endorsement from the barangay para paspas nato sila ma facilitate and maadtuan for assessment. Para pud ang barangay nila parehas sa protocol sa gaipanghatag sa mga COVID-related patients and closed contacts ang ga request mismo ang kapitan, nurses or medical officers,” he cited.

Fabello said the medical officer verifies and sends the report either thru the Office of Community Affairs (OCA), CSWD, or City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (CDRRMD) for calibration.

“If ever naay mo-present sa ilang kaugalingon nga affected gyud sila sa MECQ condition, ipaduol pud na sila sa ilang barangay kapitan aron i-presentar nila ilang kaugalingon didto, then ang medical officer or BHERT maoy motan-aw sa ilang kondisyon and then si kapitan maoy mo-endorse sa ato so that we can also do our verification process,” Fabello further said.

Due to the meager resources of the city government caused by the continuous and still ongoing responses of giving assistance not only to COVID patients but also to their direct contacts, these

requests are placed under strict verification and assessment, The Gavel learned.

“Dili man ni sya pagpalisod-lisod pero tungod kay calibrated na gyud karon ang atong responses because of our meager resources. Tabangan nato ni siya nga ma allocate nato ang mga resources,” Fabello further clarified.
