Abbu wants proper disposition of dispute in Barangay 31

COUNCILOR Jose Pepe S. Abbu, Jr. on Monday said the case filed by the barangay officials of Barangay 31 should first be properly disposed. The case has not yet been further investigated, he said.

This was manifested by the councilor during the 6th regular session of the City Council in his reaction to the special report of Councilor Yan Lam Lim who proposed a resolution requesting the City Accounting Office and City Budget Office to conduct a special audit of the transactions made by the said barangay.

Councilor Lim reported that his office received a complaint from officials of Barangay No. 31 against the barangay chairman for allegedly implementing ghost projects.

Councilor Abbu said it is not yet proper to request the City Accounting Office and City Budget Office to conduct an investigation considering that no case has been filed.

“Under the blue ribbon committee, I think it is premature for us to issue such a resolution. In fact, we have not yet conducted any investigation,” he added.

The Gavel learned that the committee on blue ribbon chaired by Councilor Edgar Cabanlas with Councilor Abbu, vice-chair, convened yesterday to tackle the complaint of the barangay chairman against barangay officials for alleged violation of Section 3 of RA 7160 for grave abuse of authority, grave misconduct, serious dishonesty, among others.

The special report of Councilor Lim was referred to the committee on blue ribbon for proper disposition. (SP/JBDacer)
