₱66-M farm-to-market-road projects in the offing
The construction of the ₱66-M farm-to-market roads (FMR) in Barangays Bugo, Indahag, and Balubal to enable seamless delivery of food products in the city will be realized soon.
After the 20th City Council’s approval of Ordinance No. 14939-2024 during its regular session presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, the city government of Cagayan de Oro will sign the Memorandum of Undertaking (MOU) with the Department of Public Works and Highways-Cagayan de Oro City 2nd District Engineering Office (DPWH-CDOC 2nd DEO) for the purpose.
The FMR projects have been approved under the 2024 General Appropriations Act with ₱60 million funding under the Department of Agriculture (DA), while the city will allocate ₱6 million as 10% counterpart.
Under the MOU, the DPWH-CDOC 2nd DEO is tasked with overseeing and supervising the project implementation as well as facilitating the turnover of completed projects.
Meanwhile, LGU-CDO will take charge in monitoring the project implementation and maintaining the roads' condition after its completion, The Gavel learned.
The government investment in FMRs aims to bridge the gap of agricultural supply chain problem by improving connections between production areas and markets.
