3-stag derby in Indahag deferred due to absence of rep, lack of documents

THE City Council Committee on Games and Amusement, chaired by Councilor Roger Abaday, moved for the deferment of the application of Mr. Victor P. Cabeltes for a special permit to hold a 3-stag derby cockfight event at the Indahag Square Garden in Sitio Lumboy on October 9, 2024 after the said representative not only failed to appear before the committee but also submitted lacking documents.

Barangay Kagawad Uayan of Indahag bared that the proponent of the event has not yet secured the permit to operate from the barangay, which, according to the committee, is a necessary requirement to secure the approval of the council.

The committee also advised Cabeltes to move the cockfight date to September 29, the fiesta date of Sitio Lumboy, since section 5(d) of Presidential Decree 499, otherwise known as Cockfighting Law of 1974, prescribes the holding of cockfights only during Sundays, legal holidays, and officially declared local festivities and activities.

The approval of such application can only granted if the papers are complete, it follows relevant local and national laws, and the needed permit has been granted by the barangay, Abaday concluded.

Councilors Christian Rustico Achas, Malvern Esparcia, Aga Suan were also in attendance during the said meeting.
