SP confirms appointment of Dr. Nery as hospital chief

THE 18th City Council headed by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy on Monday adopted a resolution confirming the appointment of Dr. Ramon M. Nery as chief of the J.R. Borja General Hospital.

In a letter to the legislative body, Mayor Oscar Moreno cited Section 454 of RA 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code of 1991, which provides that unless otherwise provided, heads of departments and offices shall be appointed by the city mayor with the concurrence of the majority of all the Sangguniang Panlungsod members subject to civil service law, rules and regulations. It also requires the City Council to act on the appointment within 15 days from the date of its submission.

The committees on health, sanitation and health insurance and on laws and rules respectively chaired by Councilors Maria Lourdes S. Gaane and Ian Mark Nacaya endorsed the resolution.(SP)
