DOH Sec. Duque leads opening of ICU at JRBGH


THE first-ever Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the city-owned J.R. Borja General Hospital finally opens today.


The Power learned that Sec. Francisco Duque III of Department of Health (DOH) will lead the inauguration ceremony together with City Mayor Oscar Moreno and other public officials.


According to Dr. Ramon Nery of JRBGH, the ICU is ready for operation including personnel and equipments to serve the constituents of the city.


The fully functional eight-bed ICU will have two beds for children and six beds for adults.


Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy expressed his gladness over this development saying that this is one of the priorities of the city government.


“Usa kini sa labing gikinahanglan sa dakbayan sa tinguha nga matunol na ang hingpit nga serbisyo sa natad sa panglawas”, he said.


It may be recalled that the 18th City Council allotted P120 million for the construction of the said facility.


For her part, Councilor Maria Lourdes S. Gaane, chair of the City Council committee on health, said the DOH allocated P198 million for the implementation of the project through its Health Facility Enhancement Program (HFEP) in JRBGH.


“Sa katumanan sa proyekto, mahatagan na sa kahigayonan ang mga Kagay-anon nga walay kapas sa pagbayad, kapus palad nga mga pasyente”, she said. (SP/JBD)
