Nacaya cmte, CPDO, NEDA to discuss Metro CdeO plan
THE 18th City Council headed by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy is working towards the establishment of Cagayan de Oro as the country’s next metropolitan center.
The City Council committee on planning and development chaired by Councilor Ian Mark Nacaya will meet with National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Regional Director Engr. Leon Dacanay, Jr. and City Planning and Development Office officials on Tuesday, September 26, to further discuss details of the plan.
It may be recalled that last month the legislative body adopted Resolution No. 12788-2017, urging the Regional Development Council Region 10 (RDC) and NEDA to spearhead the initiative for the transformation of the city into Metro Cagayan de Oro.
Councilor Nacaya, proponent of the resolution, said the development of the city towards that goal is included in the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022 under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.
According to reports, the city’s strategic location, projected population growth and functional role as major gateway and transshipment hub in Northern Mindanao were considered by economic planners.
The priority projects of the RDC for 2017 and 2018 will also be discussed by the committee next week.
