Atty. Jose Pepe S. Abbu Jr., fondly known as "Joey," is a dedicated lawyer and public servant, renowned for his commitment to the community of Cagayan de Oro City. Born to the late Jose Pepe Abbu Sr. and the late RTC Judge Florencia S. Abbu, Atty. Joey is the youngest in his family. Raised in Cagayan de Oro City, he was instilled with values of integrity, public service, and community care from a young age.
Atty. Joey completed both his high school and college education at Xavier University. It was during his childhood years that he developed a strong sense of social responsibility and interest in law. Motivated by his desire to serve the community through the legal profession, he pursued his law studies at Liceo de Cagayan University, graduating in 2016. He successfully passed the Philippine Bar Exam in 2017, beginning his career as a licensed attorney.
His career in public service began in 2018 when he was elected Barangay Kagawad of Bulua. In this role, Atty. Joey demonstrated his passion for local governance by engaging directly with residents, addressing their concerns, and initiating projects that uplifted the lives of his fellow citizens. His approachable leadership style and dedication earned him the trust and respect of his community.
In 2022, Atty. Joey took his commitment to public service to the next level when he was elected as City Councilor for the 1st district of Cagayan de Oro City. As City Councilor, Atty. Joey works tirelessly to advocate for legislation that promotes the welfare of his constituents, focusing on issues such as education, public health, infrastructure development, and livelihood programs.
